Football is so great!

OK!

Here's the deal:

If anyone out there is getting Madden 08, and could forsee the possibility of purchasing it at Toys R Us, then please get in contact with me.

They have a promotion starting on Tuesday the 14th (Tomorrow), wherein 50% of the price of a video game is taken off, if a purchase of Madden 08 is made.

I very dearly want to purchase the Dawn of War Platinum Edition.  I very dearly wish to use this promotion to get  it 50% off.

I know this is short notice, but I figured there might be someone out there who would want to help out a nerd in need.

****

On an entirely similar yet unrelated note:  Anyone out there have any Transformers action figures they don't want?

Not that it's a bigger crime....

... than when Michael Bay did it to Optimus Prime, but this has really got to stop.

I could share some favorite quotes, but they all pretty much drive me out of my skull.

John is Home

Hello everyone.  John came home yesterday, and we had dinner with him and the fam right before they left for the Rosary.  He was scooting around with his walker really well, and talking as well as the morphine would let him (which really was quite well). He’ll be getting some rubber band setup for his jaw sometime next week, instead of having it wired shut.

And John says that being around people does 10 times more than any medicine.  So if you get the chance…

Thanks alot for everyone’s help, thoughts, and prayers.  It’s made a lot of this easier to deal with.

But unfortunately Ryan couldn’t leave the hospital yet, so Jesse Lee and I had been working since Wednesday to get a video/audio feed set up for him to view on the internet.  It was a slight success, but Ryan and his family seemed really thankful, as I’m sure they would have much rather been at the funeral in person.

I’ll try to have the pic of John in recovery mode from Thursday.

If I’ve missed anything, or you have any questions or messages, let me know.

Ok, take a deep breath. Here’s what I know so far.

John doesn’t remember anything between the first time they took off that night, and when he woke up to being pinned in the plane.

I got a call at 7am on Sunday saying that they had been in a plane crash, and another call at 7:30am saying that John was OK. We drove down to Tulsa that day at 10am, and saw him after his first surgery at St. John’s Medical Center. He was awake, very responsive, and had his wits and his spirits about him. Granted, he was exhausted, so he went to sleep not too long after recieving the Annointing of the Sick.

I drove Dan and my sisters back to Wichita that night for 7pm mass.

Here’s what I know about John:

He has a spiral fracture to his right tibia (it was broken all the way through, and broken in multiple places). After his final leg surgery on Tuesday, he was able to walk 3 steps with a walker. He now has a 10″ titanium plate, 3 leg screws, and 7 other fasteners in his leg. His leg drain has been removed. From an orthopedic standpoint, he could go home Thursday. However, due to his low hemoglobin count, that is looking like a long shot.

The doctor has said his fracture is very healable, and he should be able to do any running etc. in about 6-12 months.
He has his neck brace off, and is talking and eating well. His jaw is not technically fractured or dislocated, so he should be able have that worked on in Wichita.

It has been confirmed that there was no injury to his arms or his left foot, which was previously quite swollen.

Regarding Ryan:

He is having surgery on his right thumb today at 12pm. His thumb had a fracture and many lacerations.

Sorry I don’t have more on Ryan.

Both have been able to visit with each other. They have also had many visitors from the Carroll community, and have enjoyed it immensely. They were even visited my Bishop Gerber…. TWICE!

I will continue to keep you guys informed whenever I hear anything.
